Challenge:

Assisting the Artisan Kitchen with their jam start-up branding and packaging design is exactly the kind of project that Toast Food was created to do.

Sarah Churchill is a trained chef and a passionate foodie and founded The Artisan Kitchen in 2011, making delicious handmade preserves and marmalades from her kitchen in Gloucester, in the heart of the Cotswolds. The venture was inspired by a local Mirabelle plum tree.

To get started, Sarah initially designed and printed her own labels. But after a while and speaking to stockists, she approached Toast Food to create a brand and label design that was fitting for such a great-tasting product.

Approach:

We had an initial meeting with Sarah it was clear how passionate she is about food and the products that she created. We discussed creating a brand design that looks and feels like a professional product and what the benefits would be, and how this could develop as her product line grows. We identified the need for a label design that is flexible enough to change for seasonal small batches.

Following our full brand design process, we looked to create a stylish, strong and recognisable brand design for the Artisan Kitchen that wouldn’t look out of place on any kitchen side. It was key that the label design allowed new product lines and varieties to be created quickly and easily.

Solution:

The end result was exactly what we were looking to achieve with this project. A stylish, iconic and timeless Artisan Kitchen Jam Branding and Packaging Design that can grow and adapt along with the business. This has put Sarah in good stead to build her business, allowing her to concentrate on doing what she loves: creating amazing tasting preserves that people love.

Since the initial branding project The Artisan Kitchen has gone on to win many awards for its great-tasting products, including over 75 Great Taste Awards, and they’re now stocked in many places throughout the country, including M&S. Our design for The Artisan Kitchen is one that we’re very proud of and we love working with Sarah.

See our interview with Sarah on our blog to find out what makes her tick, what problems she had to overcome to get her business started and how branding has helped her to achieve her ambitions for The Artisan Kitchen.

We’ve also recently redesigned and built a new WordPress website for The Artisan Kitchen allowing the team to take more control of digital and content marketing.

It’s a fully bespoke-built site using WooCommerce to sell products and subscriptions online.
