Toast Food has been delivering creative packaging design for its clients for nearly 2 decades and has been at the front of this every changing service every step of the way. We have seen the rise and fall of many fads and fashions but also championed key developments that have changed the industry for the better, from advocating more environmentally friendly inks through to leading the way in the reduction of single-use plastics and utilising the very latest in recyclable stocks and substrates.
What have we done?
Toast takes its responsibilities seriously, both to its client’s requirements and the wider environment. Wherever possible we provide advice and solutions that not just meet the creative brief but also take advantage of the latest legislation, retailers strict demands and environmental considerations. We always investigate design solutions that encourage and facilitate our recycle, reuse & reduce approach to design and packaging.
The carrot and the stick?
Packaging design is at the forefront of the recent revolution in the use of single-use plastics, recyclable packaging and a general reduction in wasted packaging. The pressure for positive change comes from a range of different angles, none as passionate as the clients themselves, many of the products we brand are born of a desire to make the world a better place.
Some recent examples are:
Cotswold Gold Rapeseed Oil who are dedicated to minimising all their waste in every facet of their field to bottle process. This passion needed to come through in the packaging of their incredible product range.
Another great example is The Wonky Food Company, which formed to create beautiful chutneys and relishes from ‘wonky’ fruit and vegetables that would otherwise be thrown away and not used. We helped the team at "Wonky" to create their branding and label design, see their case study here.
So, whether from the producers to retailers, there is a growing consensus that it is everyone’s best interests to work together to recycle, reuse & reduce in every aspect of our lives.
Brands big and small are now changing their packaging to ensure that it can be recycled, reused or reduced in some form. Brands that continue to ignore this demand are finding themselves being named and shamed by consumers and consumer groups.
We don't have to sell the benefits of recycling, resuse & reduce as an approach. It sells itself.
